Date of publication: March 6, 2026
On March 6, 2026, Filip Sommer, Director of the Prague Center for Middle East Relations (PCMR) at CEVRO University, commented on the current situation in Lebanon in connection with the clashes between the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah. This conflict has significantly affected, for example, the southern parts of the country (south of the Litani River), the eastern part of the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut called Dahiya, which is inhabited mainly by a Shia population.
The conflict has affected hundreds of thousands of people who have had to leave their homes and are now seeking refuge in other parts of the country.
