Roundtable “The State of Middle East Peace Process between Israel and Palestine”

Prague Centre for Middle East Relations (PCMR) organized an expert roundtable “The State of Middle East Peace Process between Israel and Palestine” with Susanna Terstal, EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. The event was held on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 11:30 to 13:00 at CEVRO Institute (Jungmannova 28/17, Praha 110 00).

The event covered recent developments in the region in relation to the Arab-Israeli conflict and its resolution. Both contemporary internal political dynamics in Israel and the situation in the West Bank and Gaza were also thoroughly discussed.

The event was held under the Chatham House Rules.

The roundtable was moderated by Tomáš Kaválek, Director of PCMR.

Susanna Terstal has been the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process since September 2018. From 2015 to 2018 she was the Dutch Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the first two years of her posting to Iran, she also represented the EU in the absence of an EU delegation. In 2012, she became Ambassador to Angola after being deputy at the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands in Geneva. Terstal joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands in 1994. She is a lawyer and has a Master’s in political science, international relations and Italian language and literature.
